Mark Shaw, Avocado Studios (Jan 2016 to present) is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Avocado Studios. Avocado brings together the best resources from operations, to sales, to capital to enable emerging food & beverage companies to scale. Mark recently invested, served on the board and helped manage Farmhouse Culture, which is fast becoming a leader in the probiotic products space. Previous to Farmhouse, he created and built Coco Libre, Organic Coconut Water line, into a national brand. His work is an outgrowth of his passion to deliver consumers innovative foods and beverages. Mark has been in the food business for over 30 years managing, marketing and building consumer brands for entrepreneurial companies. In 1984, after discovering a then-small Vermont Company, he founded his own company to launch Ben & Jerry’s into the New York marketplace. Next, as part of the Marie Callender’s marketing team, he launched over 15 new products to help grow that brand. After the business was sold to ConAgra, he managed and developed new products for Thomas’ English Muffin Brand, which was owned by Best Foods. Next, as VP, Innovation Manager for Mattson & Co, he created and developed over 30 new products for client companies, accelerating their product pipelines with multi-million dollar innovative products. Mark has been featured in BevNet, Industry Standard, Fast Company, and Prepared Foods Magazine. He has advised, served on the boards or invested in several notable natural food companies including: Sambazon, Honest Tea, Plum Organics, Ben & Jerry’s and Farmhouse Culture. Mark received his MBA from Stanford University and a Law Degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
