Green Efforts

How We Are Greening

Sustainable Event Certification

Natural Products Expo is actively pursuing APEX/ASTM Environmentally Sustainable Meeting Certification. The standards provide event planners and suppliers prescriptive, measurable specifications for producing events in a more sustainable manner. We are pursuing the certification to be able to put some structure and validation around our greening efforts at Natural Products Expo. We believe that our efforts to do our business in a more environmentally sustainable manner supports our mission statement to bring more health to more people. We also believe that due to our role in the Natural Products Industry, that we are in a perfect position to be leaders on this front in the Trade Show & Convention Industry.

The ASTM/APEX Standards are a set of nine formal, voluntary standards developed by the meetings, conventions, exhibitions and events industry. We are actively pursuing Destination, Exhibits, Onsite Offices, Marketing Communications, and Food & Beverage for Natural Products Expo East 2013. Each standard has planner (i.e. New Hope) and supplier (i.e. GES and Convention Centers) requirements. When applicable, there are requirements for exhibitors as well. Each standard also has multiple levels of certification. In order to certify the event, we are pursuing Level 1 requirements on each of the standards we are working on. We may not achieve certification for each in 2013, but we are going to be well on the path to it!
